Intro to Shakespeare

Tips and tricks to understand and perform Shakespeare

Workshop Focus: Understanding Shakespeare / Creativity / Teamwork
50 mins and 100 mins options

This workshop focuses on introducing students to some Shakespearean text and giving them tools to play with it and make it their own.

We begin by looking at Shakespearean insults and explore tricks we can use as performers to ensure the audience understands this old-English.

We use playful exercises and games to explore how we can use our voice as English speakers and performers to portray certain messages. Together we look at the power of body language and how movements need to be adapted for the stage.

The workshops culminates in the students creating their own Shakespearean-style scene.

"I've learned to know everyone in the class better.

I liked the activities even though I've never done

theatre or these kind of activities!"
